The International Terrorist Finance Lie

Find any references to Swift in all that news we knew so much about?

And if we all knew about it, why did Lichtblau make such a big deal about how secret it is?

And if there was nothing new, why the incredible mealy-mouthed response on Meet The Press?

And what about journalistic ethics? Jeff Jarvis, hardly a conservative, sets the context over at the Huffington Post:

I will reveal a secret government program when I can show that it violates the law or abuses the power given under that law. I will reveal such a program when I can demonstrate that it is dangerously ineffective or incompetent in its design or execution. And I will not reveal such secrets unless I can show a compelling need to know and newsworthiness, and unless I can show that doing so will not put innocent lives and welfare at risk. If revealing secrets puts the nation, its agents, or soldiers at risk, I will not reveal them. But this is not what we're hearing in the discussion over the Swift banking story. Instead, in this weekend's joint oped from Keller and Baquet, we see a continuation of the theme of Keller's last latter, which doesn't so much say why they revealed the secrets but instead argues why their critics are wrong to complain.

And finally, if there was nothing wrong about this program, it wasn't a secret, and it was nothing new, why was it on the front page?

What Geneva Conventions?

Fox news is reporting that our two guys Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore. kidnapped and killed in Iraq over the weekend were tortured in the most unthinkable ways.

Their eyes were gouged; their genitals were cut off and stuffed in their mouths; their arms were distorted; and their throats were slit.

They were left on the roadside and rigged with bombs. We had to wait until daylight to get them.

Funny I haven't heard any outrage from the left about Geneva Conventions, Human Rights Watch, or any of the other organizations working so diligently to protect the world from abuse.

I guess they are all busy at Gitmo, making sure the food is good, and all religious requirements are met.

And I'm not surprised either.

The Criminalization of Politics

Michael Barone has a great article chronicling the last 10 days in US politics. In the process he dismantles comparison of this administrations policies to Viet Nam and Watergate, and points out what the press' own stupidity has earned them.

The Sky is Blue;

The air is crisp; the President is in Baghdad; yesterday I won an ipod and earphones from the bank: and Karl Rove will not be indicted.

Pardon me while I gloat.

Autopsy Results

Zarqawi died of "space blast" injuries.

According the press conference taking place right now, when a bomb hits an enclosed area, the power from the blast causes the lungs to lose function. The damage is enhanced or decreased based on where the victim is located in the room, and whether they are facing toward or away from the bomb.

For the moonbats: There were no injuries consistent with beatings.
